A recent survey reveals that pet parents are even more obsessed with their furry family members around the holidays than they are the rest of the year.
Do you spoil your pet over the holidays? You’re not alone! A national survey of over 1000 pet parents was conducted by One Vet, and the results couldn’t be clearer: pet parents are a bit “extra” during the month of December!
Here’s some insights:
- Over half of Americans (58%) say they would rather spend the holidays with their pet than their in-laws.
- Roughly 70% of Americans purchase two or more gifts for their pet during the holidays. Almost a quarter of respondents spend at least $50 on their pet’s gifts.
- 60% of Americans have stockings for their pets.
- 28% of millennials purchase an ugly Christmas sweater for their pet during the holidays and over 2 in 10 of millennials purchase matching outfits for them and their pet.
A number of survey respondents claimed they like to bake a dog-friendly holiday dinner, while others cart their pup around the neighborhood in a light-up wagon. Some people even reported throwing a dog holiday party complete with a Secret Santa, treats, and a professional photographer!
Whichever holiday you celebrate, and whether you have lots of pets to spoil or just one, it’s clear that our furry friends help make this one of the most wonderful times of the year!
