Keeping your pet adequately hydrated – and communicating his water intake to your vet – can help keep her in good health!
As any cat parent will attest, felines can be tricky to monitor, since their health problems are often challenging to detect and diagnose. With this in mind, it becomes even more critical for cat parents to be on the lookout for potential health indicators to help them have peace of mind. One of the best ways to monitor your cat’s health is to ensure she’s taking in an adequate amount of nutrition and remaining optimally hydrated. But while it is easy for humans to track how much water we consume, it is much more challenging for cat parents to monitor their cats’ drinking habits, especially when they leave the house or have multiple cats who are all drinking freely from the same water bowl.
That’s where Sure Petcare’s Felaqua® Connect comes in!
Designed in collaboration with veterinary behaviorists, Felaqua Connect is a smart water bowl that encourages cats to drink. The product allows cat parents to keep track of their cats’ daily water intake via the Sure PetcareTM App, while the smart water delivery system provides the cat with a source of fresh water.
Cats in particular love to hide when they are not feeling well, and without a way to measure water or food intake, there is no way to easily to tell there’s been a change. Middle aged to senior cats are especially prone to several conditions that can result in a progressive increase or decrease in water or food intake.
With Felaqua Connect, cat parents are able to monitor for changes in water intake quickly and easily. Knowing whether your cat is drinking more or less is a fantastic way to be able to identify if something is changing about their health, and can give you time to consider consulting with a veterinary professional for a check-up.
Monitoring water intake can lead to faster (and better) treatment!
Once you’ve identified a problem, your vet can then quickly initiate treatment as needed to help minimize damage to your cat from potential disease, such as diabetes or kidney issues, before they get seriously ill. Not to mention, vet professionals will also want to make sure that their treatment plan is successful, and one of those indicators of a successful treatment is water intake returns to normal.
Sure Petcare ran a survey of 64 veterinarians in May 2021 and 48% of those surveyed agreed it is difficult to get reliable information from cat parents about how much their cat is drinking. So having a way to measure your cat’s water intake and provide that data back to your veterinarian is extremely valuable.
Ultimately, water intake is vital to unlock the health and wellness of your cat, and Felaqua Connect provides a window into your cat’s health and highlights the importance of hydration as a main health indicator.
